Theme: Appreciation of Ceramics

I. Call for Speakers: Deadline: May 30, 2010
The subject of speech will feature such aspects as critical writing, marketing, gallery/museum direction and other related subjects on ceramics. All these should relate to the theme of this conference: Appreciation of Ceramics.
Speakers are required to prepare the following information in a file in WORD format and send to Dr. I Chi Hsu before the end of May, 2010 by

1. an abstract of the talk
2. the title of the talk,
3. a cv of the speaker and
4. a photo image of the speaker (300 dpi, 1 mb)
ICMEA will select speakers before the end of May, 2010 and ICMEA will notify the speaker. Then the speaker should send a full speech text to Dr. Hsu for possible translation and publication.
Notices:
1. No fee for speaker to enter
2. The selected speakers are invited to the conference in Fuping. Fuping will provide free accommodation and food during the convention period, travelling cost is not included.

II. Call for Emerging Ceramic Artists Competition: Deadline: June 30, 2010
Definition of Emerging artists: Ceramic artists who have not practicing art work longer than 8 years after finishing their training/studies and never win major competitions.

Participating artists should prepare:
1. One artist can only enter one art work.
2. Four images of the same art work intend to compete, from different angles (in JPG format, 300 dpi and at least 1 mb in size);
3. The caption, size and description of their work
4. Artist’s CV and a short artist’s statement (< 200 words). All words are in
English in WORD format.

First Round Judging Procedures and Conditions:
1. All received entries will be initially judged by the selection committee composed by: Janet Mansfielsd (Australia), Bernd Pfannkucke(Germany), Elaine Henry(USA), I Chi Hsu(China). At least two votes are required to be selected initially.
2. A total of 60-100 applicants will be selected initially for final competition.
ICMEA will notice selected artists before the end of August, 2010
3. All selected applicants shall send their art work to ICMEA office in Fuping at artists cost. (address: Mr. XU Guoliang, Fupinjg Pottery Art Village, 1 Qiaoshan Road, Fuping, Shaanxi, China (postal code 700710) Deadline for receiving the art work is September 30, 2010

Final Judging Procedures and Conditions:
1. All 60-100 selected works will be exhibited at 2010 ICMEA Conference in
Fuping and they will be voted by the meeting-presented ceramic magazine editors for final 10 Award winners in Fuping in the evening of Nov. 7, 2010 .
2. The entry to the competition is free. If applicant is selected for final
competition, he or she is invited to come to Fuping. Fuping will cover their
lodging and meals during the convention period but not covering the traveling cost.
3. Winners will be announced during the opening ceremony of ICMEA
Conference in Fuping, November 8, 2010

Awards:
Awards will be given to 10 winning emerging artists (the FuLe Prize) for free residency program in Fuping Pottery Art Village for one month in the year period of 2011-2012. In addition, 3 cash prizes will also be given to the top 3 of these 10 artists:
Gold Prize: US$ 2000
Silver Prize: US$ 1500
Bronze Prize: US$ 1000
Award winners’ art work will be donated to ICMEA for permanent exhibition. The award does not include the traveling money but covers all the room/food and reasonable working materials in one month period. Artists will donate half of their finished work to FLICAM, the other half of the finished work belong to the artist.
Artist can ship them back at their own cost or find local gallery to sell the art work for them.
If the first round selected artist (excluding the award winners) needs their work back, he or she has to pay the shipping cost, otherwise it will be permanently exhibited in the ICMEA Information Center. These artists will have higher priority to be admitted to FLICAM’s residency program if they apply. At present, FLICAM is still exhibit all emerging artists work from year 2004 and 2007, almost all are donated to the Museum.
